Region Nine is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality, affordable housing for low- to moderate-income seniors, individuals with disabilities, and families. Their previous website was outdated and difficult to navigate, making the housing application process challenging for users, so it was time for a new one.

Project Goals

The redesigned website prioritizes accessibility for the different groups of people that Region Nine targets. I streamlined navigation to ensure users can find what they need in the least amount of steps. I also incorporated large photos, provided by the client, to highlight both the available properties and the communities of people that live within them.

Application Forms

One of the biggest challenges in the website redesign was improving the application process. Previously, forms were only available as downloadable PDFs that applicants had to print and fill out manually. To streamline this process, we introduced digital forms while still providing the printable options. Since there’s a large amount of required information, I designed a multi-step form with a progress bar, making it easier to complete. At the final step, applicants could conveniently sign and date the form digitally.

Floor Plans

In addition to the website, I created a set of PDFs with floor plans for each of the properties. The existing PDFs had inaccurate layouts, no window locations, and needed to match the new look of the website. I also added info on the side of each page to be quickly and easily referenced, such as location, apartment type, and square foot measurements.

Client Testimonial

“Website went up without a hitch on our end and is looking great! We are very proud of our website now, I think for the first time ever, which is very exciting.”
